Felthorpe Lakes

Sport and Leisure Fishing in the
Norfolk Countryside...

The three lakes offer the leisure angler a good range of swims and a good selection of fish. There is a specimen lake, a pleasure lake and a match lake. Below are brief descriptions and pictures of the lakes.

Mirror Lake - specimen lake

Mirror lake is the largest of the three lakes. It is approximately 2 acres in size. It offers plenty of features to fish too including two largish islands and an area that has three smaller often semi-submerged islands. The average depth runs at about four to five foot with areas of deeper water up to about seven foot. The largest fish caught and weighed recently from Mirror lake was a 27lb 10oz Common Carp. Several carp in the low to mid twenties have now been weighed in and a good head of fish in the low to high teens. Several varieties of carp have been landed in this lake including Common, Mirror, Leather, Linear, Ghost and Grass. There is also an illusive Ghost carp that the regulars try and get that is of an unknown weight, we call it Gandalf and hope someone gets it soon. Tench also feature well in Mirror lake with one particular angler netting over twenty in one session, a feat not often repeated.

Foxes Lake - Pleasure lake

Foxes Lake is around 1.7 acres in size and in places reaches depths of eight and nine feet. Stocked with a wide variety of Carp including Cruician, Common, Mirror and Ghost mostly below 15lb but there are one or two larger carp in there. The largest caught recently has been an 18lb 8oz Common. Foxes lake has also provided us with the largest Tench caught here at 9lb 8oz. Several other Tench have been caught including one of 8lb 5oz. A recent addition to Foxes lake this year has been the introduction of Bream. An initial stock of 300 have been introduced and depending on their successful integration more will be added.

Shadows Lake - Match lake

The match lake has been undergoing a face lift recently. Years of Lily pads have been hard to get out but it is coming back to its best now. Stocked recently with 600 small carp and being under fished has left it with a good head of fish and several regulars choose this as the lake to enjoy a days fishing. There have been a few Carp over ten pounds caught although the lake is planned to top out around seven pounds. Again there are several small Tench caught on a regular basis from Shadows along with Rudd, Roach, Perch and even the odd Koi. Bream have also been introduced into Shadows lake this year and more will follow if they are successful. Should you wish to book Shadows for matches please contact us and discuss dates and numbers. Currently the match lake has 17 pegs although this is under review and may increase slightly.
